Bookmobile temporarily out of commission

Today, March 12th, the rounds of the bookmobile will be curtailed. The bookmobile has developed an electrical problem. It will be up and running as soon as possible and we appreciate your patience!

Excellent article on Fund-Raising.

This isn't exactly at the library, but I wanted to highlight a recent article published by the New York Times.

It is called "What Makes People Give?" and it discusses matching grants and ways to raise money. I found it fascinating and I wanted to pass it along.

Here is a brief quote from the article.

The existence of a matching gift did very much matter. In their experiment, 2.2 percent of people who received the match offer made a donation, compared with only 1.8 percent of the control group. That may not seem like a big difference, but it is — more than a 20 percent gap between the two response rates, which is certainly large enough to justify making the effort to solicit a hefty matching gift.
