Banned Books Week Sept 24 to Oct 1

Yes we just missed it, but it is always interesting to read the lists and
now there is this great Google map of challenged books across the United
States.

I have always said that a good Library has got to have something in
it that offends someone. I order books that I will never read (maybe
I should) and that I find offensive for one reason or another. That makes a good Library.
How boring would be our collection to many other people if it were only the books
I want to read.

Above is the link to Google maps. Check it out. You may have to copy and paste if link does not work.

Here is the link to America Library Association list of books banned or that someone
would like banned.

And here is a link to an article from Laura Miller at Salon about books
that we suffered through having to read in school.
I am sure these are the books that Richard Brautigan was refering to when he wrote:

My teachers could have ridden with the James Gang for all the hours they stole from me.
