WE ARE READING
We are reading:
A Paradise Built in Hell: the extraordinary communities that arise in disaster by Rebecca Solnit
Kerouac asked a favorite question of social psychologists: Under what conditions are people willing to help others: Every so often comes moment when the normal rules of life are suspended, when some kind of force brings suffering, deprevation or, at the very least, extreme inconvenience.
Bill McKibben describes Solnit's book as the freshest, deepest, most optimistic account of human nature that he has come across in years. Please come joing us to discuss democracy of community.
Anne Shirako will lead the discussion. We will meet on the following 3 dates.
Tuesday evening at 7 pm on June 12th, July 10th & August 14th at the Ukiah Library.
